AQUA TAN®
Launches an Oscar worthy Newcomer
Raising the Bar For Self tanners
Beverly Hills, CA – February 2007 -- An Oscar worthy addition to the world of self- tanning, AQUA TAN® sets the gold standard for superior tanning formulation and packaging. The insiders' tanning treatment of the stars will now be rolling out to exclusive spas and boutiques nationwide. The self-tanner pretty enough to slip into that irresistible Anya Hindmarch beach bag at the One & Only Reethi Rah, AQUA TAN® is exquisitely packaged in luxurious cobalt blue and silver bottles. Formulated for faces, but great for bodies too, AQUA TAN® is equally appealing to men and women. Its stylish design looks stunning on a spa display or vanity. AQUA TAN® is the coveted sunless tanner of the jet set. AQUA TAN® is designed to match each individual's skin tone and offers a healthy alternative to UV tanning.
Until now, the starchy scent of self-tanners has been a drawback to the healthy tanning experience. AQUA TAN® is the first delicious smelling self-tanner, some are even calling an aphrodisiac. Inspired by the beauty and purity of water, the solution is clear and light weight enough to use every day. Uniquely appealing to both men and women AQUA TAN®'s clear Self Tanning Treatment Spray dries quickly, is pH balanced, non-comedogenic, hypo-allergenic and skin nourishing. It is uniquely packaged with an airless atomizer to deliver a fine mist.
AQUA TAN®'s unique formula contains healing polyphenols and nourishing botanicals such as exotic peony petals, grape seed, awapuhi, cucumber and papaya extracts to soften and silken the skin and to help protect it from aging and environmental damage. AQUA TAN®'s active ingredient is a safe fermented sugar called DHA (dihydroxyacetone). DHA is the safest FDA-approved self-tanning ingredient available on the market according to the American Academy of Dermatology. AQUA TAN® should be used in conjunction with an SPF of 15 or higher for face and body.
Celebrities
Arriving with a splash on the French Riviera scene, AQUA TAN® launched with a Fashion Show at the Cannes Film Festival. “The Cannes International Film Festival has been the quintessential venue for showcasing film, fashion and fame for over half a century,” explains Katianna Nightingale, creator of AQUA TAN®. Cannes is synonymous with leisure, sophistication and style, ever since Coco Channel returned bronzed from a trip to the French Riviera in the 1920's, tanning has become an international fashion statement.
Developing a growing cult-like following; celebrities, models and studio make-up artists are raving about AQUA TAN®. ABC's hottest prime-time actors including the cast of Desperate Housewives, Lost, and CSI received AQUA TAN® during the Buena Vista Up fronts in Los Angeles. AQUA TAN® also hit the red carpet for an Oscar Gala Benefit sponsoring the Film Preservation Foundation.
Continuing its support for Hollywood, AQUA TAN® is sponsoring the Leeza Gibbons Oscar Special on the Reelz Channel with skin cancer awareness spots to be aired nationally 2/12/07 to 2/25/07.
Founder and her story
Creator of AQUA TAN®, Katianna Nightingale was diagnosed with skin cancer after frequenting tanning beds for many years. After undergoing surgery for skin cancer and losing a friend to melanoma, Katianna started AQUA TAN® with a mission to create awareness about the dangers of tanning beds and to offer a healthy alternative to UV tanning.
Teens are strongly encouraged by public health officials and medical professionals to avoid indoor tanning. Use of tanning beds is particularly dangerous during teen-age years because teens are still experiencing tremendous growth at the cellular level. These skin cells, like other cells in the body, are dividing more rapidly during teen years than during adulthood, making exposure to UV even more detrimental. According to the Institute of Skin Cancer Research a person's risk of contracting melanoma increases by 50% if a tanning bed is used as little as once a month and goes up by 150% if the person is in their twenties or younger.
Skin Cancer Statistics
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Melanoma, the third most common skin cancer, is the most dangerous, especially among young people. One person dies every hour from melanoma. Now an epidemic, rising faster than any other cancer and projected to affect one person in fifty by 2010, currently it effects 1 in 75.
